I know that sometimes life just feels like too much, trust me I’ve been there myself. Too much stress, fear, worry, sadness, or pain can lead us to feeling confused, dismayed or just plain tired. We may wonder what we’re doing or why we’re even doing it all. That is why I am here. I’m here to help give you clarity, peace, and happiness in your life. Through my training and experience in counseling, I have helped countless adults, teens, and children get unstuck so that their thoughts, emotions, and energy are flowing in the way that best serves them. My clients share that I am easy to talk to and that they feel comfortable talking about the important areas of their lives with me. This comfort and connection help us get to the heart of the matter more quickly so that therapy doesn’t take as long.

For many of us, history has been unkind. Sometimes we have experienced a specific trauma, or a difficult childhood due to parenting, bullying, or other mistreatment (or many other reasons). I am passionate about helping a person find their voice and helping that person realize that the trauma or events in their life do not define who they are. You are so much more than what has happened to you and I am here to support you in being more aligned with who you really are and are capable of being. Therapy doesn’t have to be a difficult process and I aspire to create a safe, productive, and enjoyable experience for anyone who walks through my door.

Populations I work with:
Over my years being a therapist, I have worked with most mental health issues and types of people. I truly enjoy connecting with all types of people and have learned and grown from everyone I’ve worked with. I work well with children, adolescents, adults, and families as well as with most mental health issues. I have worked with people who have had personal trauma, emotional trauma, and grief/ loss and those who have severe mental health challenges, or substance issues. I enjoy working with children who have behavioral challenges, symptoms of mood disorders, attentional problems, or communication difficulties. I am happy to work with nuclear families, or blended families to increase understanding and cooperation.

My Approach:
Clients whom I have worked with in the past have said that they appreciate the calm and supportive energy that I provide in therapy. I tend to be gentle and direct with people and always have their best interests at heart. I accept you as you are at this moment while also seeing all the strong potential for growth you have. I often use Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, directed play with children and art in therapy with my clients. I approach clients from a strength-based perspective and believe that you are your own expert. I am here to help you find the direction for the best possible growth and personal acceptance for you.

Me:

I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two adult children and two (almost three) grandchildren. I like to be outside, hiking, walking, gardening, playing with the kids, or just enjoying a nice warm breeze and doing nothing at all. I read daily. Most of the time I read nonfiction books or research articles that are interesting to me and occasionally I find time to read a good novel. I spend time with friends as much as I can and have a good close-knit family.

"Kimberly is patient and thoughtful therapist. I feel better and more ready to face the world after our visits. She is honest and doesn't tell me what I want to hear, but what I need to hear to make myself a better person. After my students went through the trauma of a school shooting where me and my class were in the middle of it, she talked me through how to help them come back to life including journaling and writing/drawing. She also helped me to deal with the trauma of taking a gun from a 13 year old little girl who had just shot 3 people. I couldn't close my eyes at night and she helped me deal with that. She is amazing!"
